Events Tenth Annual Winter Benefit This is our tenth anniversary for our Winter Benefit! Boy George, how time flies by. The theme for this upcoming benefit is:
I Love the 80's!
For those of you who grew up during this time period, you know how great it was. When MTV actually played music videos. Big hair bands, big hair, shoulder pads, popped collars, mini skirts, head bands, leg warmers, huge earrings, fingerless gloves, parachute pants, Members Only jackets, units, and stretch-stirrup pants were the norm.
People were watching Alf, The A-Team, Dynasty, Dallas, Knight Rider, MacGyver, Magnum, P.I., Miami Vice, Diff'rent Strokes, The Jeffersons, The Facts of Life, The Cosby Show, Murder, She Wrote,"21 Jump Street", Night Court, Who's the Boss?, Family Matters, Quantum Leap, Saved by the Bell, Roseanne, Full House, The Golden Girls, Cheers, Growing Pains, Family Ties, The Simpsons, and Married... with Children.
Kids were listening to Def Leppard, Van Halen, Duran Duran, Madonna, Queen, Guns N' Roses, Bon Jovi, R.E.M., Prince, The Beastie Boys, and Michael Jackson among others. The list goes on and on.
Teens were doing the moonwalk, break dancing, playing Pac-Man or Super Mario Brothers on their Nintendo or a handheld game console, trying to figure out a Rubik's Cube, trimming their mullets, or just cruising with their friends who had a driver's license and their parent's car.
The 80's culture is endless!
Remember these:
Where's the beef? Like, for sure! Totally! That's my name, don't wear it out. Word, word-up, or word to your Mother! Totally rad! Bitchin'! Say it, don't spray it! Far out!
We could go on forever with the 80's slang!
